Pacquiao Vs. Cotto
Filipino boxing icon-Manny Pacquiao’s next match has been confirmed to be with Miguel Cotto scheduled for Nov 14 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas. Recently Pacquiao had his 10th consecutive victory against Ricky Hatton last May in a mere two rounds that left fans watching the replay for weeks. His fight with Oscar De La Hoya forced him into retirement just last December with Pacquiao boasting titles in six weight divisions from 112 to 140 pounds. According to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum: “There’s no messing about with either of these guys, and that’s what’s so exciting, that’s why it’s an unbelievable fight, with two guys who really love to fight and don’t dance around.” This fight is definitely one to anticipate. Arum added about Manny: “With Manny, you don’t tell him who to fight,” Arum said. “He tells you who he wants to fight. He’s not afraid of anything. There are a lot of easier guys he could fight, but he doesn’t want that. He wants the best, and that’s Miguel.”
Just as Pacquiao seems to be at the peak of his career his contemporary packs up his MMA gloves, 23 year old Mexican boxer Marco Antonio Nazareth died in hospital earlier this week. The junior welterweight was rushed to the hospital and underwent therapy after being knocked out by Omar Gomez thereby suffering severe brain hemorrhage. According to statistics, Miguel is estimated to be the 1500th boxer to either in the ring or as a result of major injuries sustained after a fight.
As fans anticipate the Pacquiao-Cotto fight, let’s all be reminded of the risk the game poses and hope fighters appreciate the importance of their MMA gloves and keep their gear on.
