The sixth spot is shared with some NBA all star celebrities like Lebron James and golfer Phil Mickelson. Tiger Woods still keeps his title as the highest paid athlete with $110 million income in the past year!
Previously, Pacquiao was listed as the 57th most influential celebrity in the world topped by Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie. The Filipino icon also ranked 27th in Time magazine’s list of “100 Most Influential People†and received more than 20 million online votes. Not only is he recognized for his popularity but was also awarded as the world’s best pound-for-pound and bears the title “Fighter of the Year†for 2008.
With the Filipino star’s increasing fame, companies including San Miguel, Nike and even pharmaceutical companies for Pain relievers like Alaxan have contracts with the Pacman as the star in their advertisements. Like his 6th placer contemporaries Lebron and Kobe with their NBA authentic apparel, Manny just might be the next MMA gloves endorser! For example, the popularity of Kobe’s No. 24 NBA jersey is at its peak in Europe and China and is reaching around $1 billion sales in the US and Lebrons latest Nike addition, the Zoom LeBron VI is sure to be a hit on the market.
