Lakers -NBA champions
Do you believe in Kobe? After all his mishaps during game 4, you might have thought twice before answering but after Lakers 99/86 victory over Orlando on Sunday, everyone is proud of our NBA celebrity! The game definitely was Kobe’s, he scored 30 points, made six rebounds, and five assists and most significantly to most-won his first championship without Shaquille O’Neal. This would be a very important addition to the NBA all-star’s profile considering the famous Shaq-Bryant feud just last year. Everyone remembers the issue that was raised when then part-time rapper Shaquille freestyle rapped: “You know how I be. Last week Kobe couldn’t do without me,” at a New York nightclub sometime last June 2008 after Lakers lost other finals since O’Neal’s being traded. Bryant has proved that statement wrong gaining his fourth championship ring, one behind Magic Johnson and two behind Michael Jordan- a great achievement indeed!
Seven years after their last championship, five years of losing and nearly a year since their battle and defeat against the Boston Celtics the Los Angeles Lakers can once again hold their heads up high as Bryant put it: “I don’t have to hear that idiotic criticism anymore, that’s the biggest thing. I don’t have to hear that stuff anymore. I can’t believe this moment is here. They won’t see us as losers. L.A. is brutal, man. Now when I go to Disney World and Disneyland, I can enjoy the moment. I don’t have to answer questions about, ‘What the hell happened to you guys?â€. Undeniably, after all they’ve been through, they do deserve winning the NBA all-star game and gaining the title of NBA champions.
It has been one emotionally rattling NBA finals, one we haven’t had in a while. We’ve witnessed the 17-time champions, Boston Celtics not make it to the finals this season and the second time finalists Orlando make it to the finals and even beat the famous Lakers in game 4! The Lakers perseverance and eventual victory should inspire all the other NBA teams to never lose hope and is sure proof that “Winning isn’t everything, but the will to win is everything.â€
