Amir Khan prepares for major fight

22 year old WBA Light-Welterweight fighter Amir Khan is readying his MMA gloves for his scheduled fight against WBA light-welterweight champion Andreas Kotelnik on Saturday night. Khan shares the same trainer as the Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao. This fight is probably one of the most important ones in his career and his victory will pave the way for opportunities to fight against other WBA celebrities like Ricky Hatton but Amir is determined to take things one at a time, regarding the possible Ricky fight he said:
“People keep asking me about the Ricky Hatton fight and other big fights, I just tell them that I’ve got a big fight in front of me now. I need to win this fight to take me to the next level “-a very amiable disposition indeed. Khan however recognizes the seriousness of his fight against Kotelnik: “There’s a lot of pressure on me and I need to win this fight to get me to the places I want to get to.â€
Where do you think he plans to have his MMA glove clashing big event? “I want my fights to be shown on American TV, that’s a big thing for me – more attention in America, and then I’ll go over there and fight. Everyone’s dream is to fight in Vegas and I want to fight in Vegas.
“The fight with Ricky – if it happens, it happens. We are both not pushing it, we’re both going to see what the promoters say.
“We’ll see what happens in the future but I’ve got bigger things to do at the moment, a world title fight. To win a world title in this day and age with the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez, Floyd Mayweather Jnr in the same weight category – it’s going to catapult me and put me right at the top.”
IF Khan is victorious, we’re in for a list of new rivals with new matches probably including Khan vs. Hatton and Khan vs. Pacquiao. The fight on Saturday will surely be a big one not only for Amir but all the current WBA champions-he may be their next top contender!
